7. Attach the other end of the
negative cable to a heavy
metal part on the engine
of the vehicle with the
discharged battery, like a steel
bracket bolted to the engine
block.
Attach the cable at least
45 cm (18 inches) away from
the dead battery, but not near
engine parts that move.
8. Start the vehicle with the
good battery. Run the engine
for a while.
9. Then try to start the other
vehicle.
If the engine does not start
after a few tries, the vehicle
may need service.
NOTICE
Attempts to start the engine of
the vehicle with the discharged
battery should be made at
intervals of about one minute
and should not last longer than
15 seconds each.

10. Remove the cables in reverse
order to prevent electrical
shorting.
CAUTION
Damage to your vehicle may
result from electrical shorting if
jumper cables are removed
incorrectly. To prevent
electrical shorting, take care
that the cables do not touch
each other or any other metal.
11. Store the jumper cables in
the spare tyre storage
compartment.
12. Run the engine at idle speed
for about 20 minutes to
recharge the battery.
