3. Application Modes

3.1 Remote COM Mode

The converter can serve like a local COM port of a Windows PC virtually over LAN. The connection is
illustrated as follows:
The serial interface can be RS-232 or RS-422/485 bus which more serial devices are connected depending on
the product model is used.
To enable this application model, the Windows PC must be installed with a software program called VCOM,
which is bundled in the product package's CD. Refer to Appendix 2 for more information.
