3.4 Eustachian Tube Function – Perforated Eardrum
Make sure that the test labeled as Perforated is selected from the list of tests on the left of the screen.
The Eustachian tube function test for the perforated eardrum, or Toynbee test, or ETF 2 will put the middle
ear under a certain Start pressure. The pump is then stopped and over time it is measured if the patient can
release pressure by opening the Eustachian tube. The patient is usually asked to swallow several times
during the test.
When rotating the wheel, the following settings can be selected and changed.
A
Auto run. Once enabled for a test auto run will cause this test to be automatically run as part of
the protocol.
While this instruction is selected, press the

to the USB port of the AT235 for easy typing options including the use of special characters.

Start pressure. Here the start pressure is set and can vary between +400 and -600daPa.

Test Duration. Here the test duration is set and can vary from 30 up to 150 seconds.
