PROBLEM
Product leaking:
Between lapped or polished
surfaces of seal head insert
and seal body.
Around O-rings of interface
of head and seal head
insert.
Around interface of seal
body and shaft.

POSSIBLE CAUSE
Seal insert cocked when
installed.
Seal body and/or seal faces
worn or damaged.
Seal insert cracked.
Seal springs weak.
Seal backing ring deformed.
Seal body freedom
diminished.
Seal drive pin worn or
missing.
Seal retaining ring out of
place.
Insufficient spring pressure to
hold body and insert together
after several hours of running.
Seal body and/or seal insert
damaged by handling.
New or repaired seal body
installed against a worn or
damaged seal insert, a worn
part, or a worn seal body.
Excessive wear of seal body
insert.
Seal drive pins too high.

Troubleshooting
SUGGESTED ACTION
Remove and reinstall, making sure
the o-ring is not twisted.
Replace entire seal.
Replace seal insert.
Replace springs.
Replace backing ring.
Disassemble, clean, inspect, lubricate
pieces and reassemble.
Replace with new seal drive pin.
Inspect retaining ring and lip seal.
Replace as necessary.
Replace springs.
Always lay seal faces on clean cloth.
Move mutator shaft into operating
position carefully. Do not ram shaft
into place. Inspect seal for damage,
replace as necessary.
Both need to be in good condition.
Replace.
Do not operate shaft for more than a
few moments without product in
cylinder.
Install per dimensions on page 56 or
60 of manual.
