NOTE:
Depending on whether the drive cage is for LFF or SFF drives, the screws are in slightly different
locations.
13. Slide the drive cage toward the front of the enclosure and lift free of the enclosure.
14. Remove the two screws attaching the back plane to the drive cage.
15. Slide the backplane toward the top of the drive cage and lift the backplane off the drive cage.

Installing the enclosure backplane

Procedure
1.
Place the replacement backplane on the drive cage and slide toward the bottom of the drive cage on to
the retaining hooks.
2.
Install the two backplane screws.
3.
Place the drive cage in the enclosure and slide it toward the back of the enclosure. Make sure that the
locating pins in the bottom of the enclosure are all correctly located in the drive cage.
NOTE:
Depending on the specific unit, there are six or eight locating pins.
4.
Install the eight drive cage retaining screws.
5.
Connect the two UID health module cables.
6.
Connect the power cables.
7.
Connect the fan cables.
8.
Reconnect the power distribution unit.
9.
Install the enclosure cover and press the hood latch down to engage the latch.
10. Slide the enclosure into the rack.
11. Perform one of the following depending on which type of enclosure is involved.
a. If you are replacing the backplane in a drive enclosure, install the top I/O modules only. See
Installing an I/O module on page 59.
b. If you are replacing the backplane in an array enclosure, install the top controller modules. See
Installing a controller module on page 57.
12. Install the power supplies. See Installing a power supply on page 61
