Maintaining scan codes

If the scan codes option is set to On, scan codes are maintained at the console via
pharmacy configuration. The Scan Code dialog box lists all items in the table by
scan code number within generic medication name. The table also includes a
quantity and a vendor name for each item. Scan codes and medication IDs have a
many-to-one relationship: multiple scan codes can map to the same medication
ID.
Scan Code Maintenance allows you to manually enter the scan code or scan the
barcode from the medication packaging.
When you add a new scan code or edit the fields for quantity or vendor name, the
console sends a message to the stations and the Pyxis Procar, which updates their
respective local tables. When you delete a scan code, the console sends a message
to the stations and the Pyxis Procar, which delete the code from their scan codes
tables.
