1. If   y ou   u sing   a   c ontroller   w ith   5   p ins   D MX   o utput,   y ou   n eed   t o   u se   a   5   t o   3   p in   a dapter-­‐cable.  
2. The   last   units   DMX   cable   has   to   be   terminated   with   a   120   ohm   1/4W   resistor   between   pin  
2(DMX-­‐)   a nd   p in   3 (DMX+)   o f   a   3 -­‐pin   X LR-­‐plug   a nd   p lug   i t   i n   t he   D MX-­‐output   o f   t he   l ast   u nit.  
3. Connect   the   unit   together   in   a   `daisy   chain`   by   XLR   plug   from   the   output   of   the   unit   to   the  
input  of  the  next  unit.  The  cable  can  not  branched  or  split  to  a  `Y`  cable.  DMX  512  is  a  very  
high-­‐speed   s ignal.   I nadequate   o r   d amaged   c ables,   s oldered   j oints   o r   c orroded   c onnectors   c an  
easily   d istort   t he   s ignal   a nd   s hut   d own   t he   s ystem.  
4. The   DMX   output   and   input   connectors   are   pass-­‐through   to   maintain   the   DMX   circuit,   when  
one   o f   t he   u nits'   p ower   i s   d isconnected.  
5. Each  fixture  unit  needs  to  have  an  address  set  to  receive  the  data  sent  by  the  controller.  The  
address   n umber   i s   b etween   0 -­‐511   ( usually   0   &   1   a re   e qual   t o   1 ).  
6. The   e nd   o f   t he   D MX   5 12   s ystem   s hould   b e   t erminated   t o   r educe   s ignal   e rrors.  
7. 3   p in   X LR   c onnectors   a re   m ore   p opular   t han   5   p in   X LR.

  5.   T roubleshooting    
Following   a re   a   f ew   c ommon   p roblems   t hat   m ay   o ccur   d uring   o peration.   H ere   a re   s ome  
suggestions   f or   e asy   t roubleshooting:  
A.   T he   u nit   d oes   n ot   w ork,   n o   l ight   a nd   t he   f an   d oes   n ot   w ork  
1. Check   t he   c onnection   o f   p ower   a nd   m ain   f use.  
2. Measure   t he   m ains   v oltage   o n   t he   m ain   c onnector.  
3. Check   t he   p ower   o n   L ED.  
B.   N ot   r esponding   t o   D MX   c ontroller  
1. DMX   L ED   s hould   b e   o n.   I f   n ot,   c heck   D MX   c onnectors,   c ables   t o   s ee   i f   l ink   p roperly.  
2. If   t he   D MX   L ED   i s   o n   a nd   n o   r esponse   t o   t he   c hannel,   c heck   t he   a ddress   s ettings   a nd            
DMX   p olarity.
