Picture and Sound

The optional viewfinder does not turn on.
- Make sure the unit cable connecting the camera's VIDEO terminal and the optional viewfinder's VIDEO terminal is
correctly connected on both sides.
There is no image on an external monitor.
- The camera is not connected correctly to the external monitor. Make sure you are using the correct connection
(A 152).
- The video input on the external monitor is not set to the video terminal to which you connected the camera. Select the
correct video input.
There is no picture or sound from an external monitor connected to an SDI OUT terminal.
[System Setup] > [Term. Output Setup] > [SDI OUT Output] to [On].
- Set
- Check that the external monitor's settings match the configuration of the output signal selected on the camera
(A 149).
There is no picture or sound from an external monitor connected to a MON. terminal.
[System Setup] > [Term. Output Setup] > [MON. Output] to an option other than [Off].

- Check that the external monitor's settings match the configuration of the output signal selected on the camera
(A 149).
There is no picture or sound from an external monitor connected to the HDMI OUT terminal.
- Disconnect the HDMI cable and then restore the connection or turn the camera off and then on again.
- When output from the MON. terminals is enabled (
is set to an option other than [Off]), if the monitor is not compatible with the video output configuration, output from the
HDMI OUT terminal will be turned off. Set [MON. Output] to [Off] or connect a monitor compatible with the HDMI OUT
terminal's video output configuration.
The peaking/magnification/zebra pattern/waveform monitor/onscreen markers/false color display/B&W image does
not appear on the monitoring screen, or the anamorphic desqueeze/LUT is not applied to it.
- Check that display of the desired assistance function is enabled on the screen used with the corresponding output
settings.
- If output of the camera's onscreen displays is not enabled for the terminal used, enable it (A 155).
Screen displays turn on and off repeatedly.
- The input voltage of the battery or power source connected to the DC IN 12V terminal is too low. Check the power
source.
- Excess current to the lens has been detected. Remove the lens. Clean the contacts on the lens mount and lens and
reattach the lens.
Abnormal characters appear on the monitoring screen and the camera does not operate properly.
- Disconnect the power source and reconnect it after a short time. If the problem still persists, use the
Setup] > [Reset] > [All Settings] function. This resets all the camera's settings to default values, except for the hour
meter.
Video noise appears on the monitoring screen.
- Keep a distance between the camera and devices that emit strong electromagnetic fields such as near powerful
magnets and motors, MRI machines or high-voltage power lines.
Horizontal bands appear on the monitoring screen.
- Z[ This is a phenomenon typical of CMOS image sensors when recording under some types of fluorescent,
mercury or sodium lamps. This is not a malfunction. You may be able to reduce the symptoms by setting the shutter
speed mode to [Speed] and the shutter speed to a value matching the frequency of the local electrical system: 1/50*
or 1/100 for 50 Hz systems, 1/60 or 1/120 for 60 Hz systems.
* May not be available depending on the frame rate.
Audio cannot be recorded.
- The audio input selection switch of the INPUT terminal is in the AES/EBU position but an analog audio source is
connected, or it is set to the ANALOG position and a digital audio source is connected. Set the audio related switches
correctly according to the audio source you wish to use (A 110).
- The external analog microphone connected to the INPUT 1/INPUT 2 terminal requires phantom power. Set the
corresponding INPUT terminal's ANALOG (analog audio source selection) switch to MIC+48V (A 110).
Audio is recorded at an extremely low level.
- The audio recording level mode for the audio channels selected is set to manual (M or [Manual]) and the audio
recording level is set too low. Check the audio level meter on the HOME screen,
monitoring screen and adjust the audio level correctly (A 111).
- The microphone attenuator is on. Turn off the microphone attenuator (A 113).
