If your transceiver seems to be malfunctioning, please check the following points before sending it to a service center.
PROBLEM
The transceiver does not turn
ON.
No sound comes from the
speaker.
Transmitting is impossible.
Transmitting using the VOX
function is impossible.
Contacting with another sta-
tion is impossible.
Channel cannot be set.
Some operations or modifi ca-
tions of Set mode items are
impossible.
The display is erroneous.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
• The battery is exhausted.
• The battery polarity is reversed.
• Loose connection of a battery pack or case.
• Volume level is too low.
• An external speaker or a cloning cable is
connected to the [SP] jack.
• The battery is exhausted.
• TX permission is inhibited on the channel.
• The Lockout function is activated.
• The VOX gain is set to OFF or too low.
• The microphone gain is too low.
• TX permission is inhibited on the channel.
• A different tone or code is used for the
tone or DTCS squelch.
• The Key Lock function is activated.
• The transceiver is in the simple mode.
• External factors have caused a fault.

TROUBLE SHOOTING

SOLUTION
• Charge the battery pack, or replace the batteries.
• Check the battery polarity.
• Clean the battery terminals.
• Rotate [VOL] to adjust the volume level.
• Check the external speaker connection or remove
the cloning cable.
• Charge the battery pack, or replace the batteries.
• Set the 'TX inhibit' item to OFF using the CS-80FX
.
CLONING SOFTWARE
• Turn OFF the Lockout function.
• Set the VOX gain to a suitable level.
• Set the microphone gain to a suitable level.
• Set the 'TX inhibit' item to OFF using the CS-80FX
.
CLONING SOFTWARE
• Check the tone or DTCS by performing a tone
scan.
• Push [FUNC](M), and then hold down [
1 second to turn OFF the Key Lock function.
• Turn OFF the Simple Mode function.
• Remove and re-attach the battery pack or case.
