After the BSGX4e is physically installed into the network, network connections are
initialized. If a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) service is working
properly on the WAN, the BSGX4e receives its IP addressing information from the
DHCP server. This process occurs automatically as soon as the BSGX4e is connected
to the WAN.
However, if DHCP service is not available or not working properly, you can enter IP
addressing information manually. At a minimum, you need to enter the IP address
for the eth0 WAN interface, the default gateway address, and the Domain Name
System (DNS) server address.
information.
After the WAN network connection is established, you can configure other ports and
servers at the console or through a remote connection to the BSGX4e through the
WAN or from a workstation in the LAN. For complete configuration information, see
the BSGX4e Business Gateway User Guide on the Documentation CD.
