7. PROBLEM

Verifi cation is not correct.

SOLUTIONS:
1) Th e sample chamber and mirror need to be cleaned. See
Chapter 6 for detailed cleaning instructions. If verifi cation is
still not correct, then linear off set has occurred.
2) Verify and Adjust for Linear Off set. After you have cleaned
the sample chamber and mirror (Chpt. 7) you will need to
use a Verifi cation Standard to verify and adjust for Linear
Off set as described in Chapter 7.
8. PROBLEM:
Message on screen displays the following:
SOLUTION:
Th e crystal that runs the fi rmware is having trouble starting. Oc-
casionally, cycling the power will solve the problem. If this mes-
sage continues to appear, the instrument will need to be ser-
viced by Decagon. See Chapter 13 for detailed instructions.
