3.5 Applying the wrist monitor
Measurement should be taken on
the naked wrist which usually has
the higher blood pressure value. If
you are unsure which arm to use,
ask your doctor. The cuff should not
be applied over a projecting bone,
as it will otherwise not fi t evenly
around the wrist.
The device is permanently connected
to the cuff, and the cuff should not
be removed from the device. Now
wrap the cuff round the wrist. The
wrist monitor should be positioned
axially on the inside of the wrist
about 2 cm above the base of the
wrist. The lettering on the upper
side of the device points in your
direction.

The cuff should be fi rm but not too
tight.
Please note that inappropriate
application of the cuff can lead to
inaccurate readings. Also use the
markings on the edge of the cuff to
check if the cuff size is correct: The
red dot on the silver-coloured strap
should point on the red marking
strip. If the red dot is outside the
red marking strip, the cuff is too
small for you. The Tensoval mobil
cuff circumference ranges from
12.5 to 22.5 cm. People with larger
wrist circumferences are
recommended to use an upper arm
blood pressure monitor instead
because wrist monitors give
inaccurate blood pressure readings
in such individuals.
