Functions of the Camera

Built-In Flash and Five Flash
Modes
Features of the built-in flash of the camera in the UPX-
C200 system and the five flash modes are described
here.
Features of the built-in flash
The built-in flash is optimally designed for portrait
photography. For instance, the surface treatment of the
luminous body disperses light. The luminous power of
the flash is about guide number (GN) 10. Since the
camera's sensitivity is equivalent to ISO 100, if the
aperture setting is F4.8, and the subject is 2 meters away,
guide number 10 is sufficient, because 2 × 4.8 = 9.6. In
other words, the built-in flash is not powerful enough for
a subject more than 2 meters away. In such a case,
another source of lighting is required.
The angle of coverage of the built-in flash is designed to
be effective with the 1.3× zoom range (f=15.6 to 19.8).
If you set the zoom range of the camera to 2.6× (f=7.50
to 19.8), with angles wider than 1.3× zoom range, the
periphery of a picture becomes dark because of
insufficient lighting.
The color temperature of the light emitted from the
built-in flash is about 5500K. Generally, it is said that
human eyes are able to distinguish between two colors
when their color temperatures have a difference of
400K. To use the built-in flash simultaneously with an
external flash (to illuminate the subject), some
considerations are necessary. For instance, care must be
taken to have both the built-in and external flash evenly
illuminate the subject, or the external flash must be used
only for augmentation. When using an external flash, be
sure to adjust WHITE BALANCE on the camera.
