Photometry Area (AE AREA)

If Exposure Mode is set to PROGRAM AUTO or
APERTURE PRIORITY, this camera executes
automatic photometry when the Release button of the
camera is pressed. Necessary adjustments, including
exposure and white balance, are done automatically.
During automatic photometry, the entire range to be
photographed is divided into 8×8 areas, and three types
of combined areas out of these 64 are mainly subject to
the photometry, as follows:
Center Weighted: The center areas of the entire range
to be photographed are the main objects for
photometry. This is suitable for general shooting.
However, even when the same person is
photographed, if the attire he/she wears changes, the
brightness of the face may change.
FACE: The face in an identification shot is the main
object for photometry. When the same person is
photographed, even if the attire he/she wears
changes, the brightness of the face may not change
greatly. However, the brightness of a face with pale
skin tone and that of the suntanned face are
compensated to be the same. This is the factory-
preset value.
Background: The background around the face is the
main object for photometry. If the color tone and
brightness of the background do not change, the
exposure of the camera is adjusted under almost the
same conditions.
