4 Installation

Roles and Responsibilities

This section is key to clearly state Xerox/Partner and the customer roles and responsibilities and necessary actions.
Responsibility Matrix
Action
Identify a person at the installation site who will be the primary interface with Xerox/Partner
Ensure that the system administrator, or responsible individual, is present at the time of installation
Select and prepare the site for the installation
Ensure that the installation site meets all state and local building codes, fire codes, safety, and similar requirements for
installation (e.g., seismic bracing, etc.), and that the implementation of those plans is completed prior to installation
Certify that the floor from the loading dock to the installation site, and the floor at the installation site will support the
weight of the machine and any optional accessories; this may require the use of a customer-provided structural engineer
Certify that the floor at the installation site meets floor flatness/levelness for the machine and any optional accessories
Certify that the site meets all electrical requirements, including, but not limited to, the provision of the machine's electrical
connection and any dedicated electrical receptacle required; this must be completed prior to installation
Ensure that any additional electrical requirements are met for any optional accessories (feeders, finishers); this includes the
installation of electrical receptacles, and that the wiring is in compliance with local codes
Ensure that the site meets all environmental requirements, including heat/air conditioning
and venting (if required)
Ensure that all requirements for network configuration at the site are completed prior to installation, including the
installation of external net- work cables for an internet connection
Ensure that the installation site has adequate space for storing supplies and consumables
At the client workstations, if required, install:
Print drivers
Any applicable software (if not already loaded)
Ensure continual network connectivity
Perform machine maintenance activities
Develop a requirements analysis by gathering customer requirements including network information
Conduct the customer site inspection and verify site readiness, including:
Check the route to ensure that the machine can be delivered to the site; this includes, but is not exclusive to, the use of
any elevators for delivery purposes; stair climbers cannot be used when moving the machine components
Determine if the site must be modified in order to enable/accommodate installation
Ensure that the customer is aware of the environmental, electrical, and network requirements for the site
Ensure that all network information is completed prior to machine delivery and installation
Ensure that the customer is aware of the floor loading, floor flatness, and floor leveling specifications
Check the floor levelness with the digital leveling tool, if necessary
Approve site selection
Plan and sketch the route from the loading dock (or other point of entry) to the installation site; use the Installation route
template located later in this guide
Sketch the features of the installation site using the Installation site sketch template (located later in this guide); be sure to
include the following items in the sketch:
The base machine
Any optional feeding and finishing accessories
The print server
The storage cabinet (optional)
As many permanent features of the site, such as power receptacles and doors, as well as the overall dimensions of the
installation site
On the installation floor, mark the back corners of the Print Engine, Left Side:
Ensure that the Print Engine, Left Side will be parallel to any walls within proximity of the print engine
This should be done before delivery of the machine at the installation site; for more information, refer to the section
entitled Mark the Press Location
Complete the Installation room worksheet and attach it to the wall of the installation site near the doorway
Resolve any issues that may arise before or during the installation process, including hardware or software issues
Validate communication between the print server and the client workstation by printing a
PDF file from a client workstation
Manage and provide on-site resolution of software, network, and applications problems, if
dispatched by the Customer Support Center
