In the data center, the 8672ATME and 8672ATMM modules act as an edge
device for WAN connectivity to connect an 8600 Switch to public or private
ATM networks. In the wiring closet, this module provides inter-building
connections for campus networks where each building is supported by
frame-switched networks.
You can install up to six 8672ATME or 8672ATMM modules in one 8010
10-slot chassis. You can install up to four 8672ATME or 8672ATMM
modules in one 8006 6-slot chassis. You can install up to two 8672ATME
or 8672ATMM modules in a 8003 3-slot chassis.
Both the 8672ATME and 8672ATMM modules have an online LED that
indicates overall status for the module.

The 8672ATME module supports up to 32 000 table entries in its forwarding

The 8672ATMM module is an M module and supports up to 128 000 table
entries in its forwarding engine, allowing for large Layer 2 and Layer 3
configurations, including Internet routing tables. For information about table

The Metro Ethernet Routing Switch 8600 system has three hardware
operating modes:

Meaning
The module is receiving power and is ready to
receive and transmit traffic.
The module is initializing and performing diagnostic
self-tests.
The module is offline and not receiving power.
