BURNING OFF RESIDUES
After use, you can let your appliance burn,
empty of food and with the cover closed,
for a further ten minutes with all the burners
turned to HIGH. This ensures that a large
proportion of any residues will be burnt off,
making subsequent cleaning easier. Let the
appliance cool down.
You can then remove the burnt residues
with a non-abrasive brush and clean.
GRILLS AND GRIDDLES
After every use, let the barbecue cool down
and clean the grills with a non-abrasive
brush. Grills can also be washed with the
special 'Barbecook® all cleaner', a soft
detergent or sodium bicarbonate. Do not
use oven cleaners.
To prolong the life of your appliance, you
should carry out all the activities listed be-
low, preferably at the start of the barbecue
season.
BURNERS AND VENTURI TUBES
IMPORTANT
Natural hazards - spiders and insects:
very small insects might make a web
or nest in the venturi tubes of the gas
burners (fig. E).
E
This will partly or completely block the
gas supply. A smoking yellow flame, or
a burner which is difficult or impossible
to ignite, are indications that this tube
is blocked. The gas may end up burning
outside the venturi tube and severely
damage your appliance. If this happens,
shut off the gas cylinder at once.
Cleaning the venturi tubes/burners
The burners and venturi tubes must be
removed for cleaning at least twice a year.
• Remove the burners as shown in fig. F.
• Clean the venturi tubes thoroughly. Clear
any blocked opening with a pipe cleaner
or brush (e.g. an unfolded paperclip).
• Replace the burner in accordance with
the instructions (fig. F). After cleaning,
the venturi tubes must be replaced prop-
erly on the gas valves.
• If the burner is split, or displays unu-
sual holes or other damage, it must be
replaced.

Note: damage due to a partly or wholly
obstructed venturi tube in a burner is
not covered by the warranty and will be
regarded as inadequate maintenance.
Special precautionary measures for
enamelled parts
(failing to follow these instructions will inva-
lidate the warranty)
• Metals and/or sharp objects can
damage the enamel.
• Never pour cold liquids into the hot
bowl. This can damage the enamel.
• Avoid knocking the appliance
against a hard surface. This can
damage the enamel.
• In these models, the enamelling pro-
cess sometimes leaves thin edges
which are not fully covered with
enamel This is not regarded as a
manufacturing fault, and is therefore
not covered by the warranty.
• When assembling enamelled
parts always use the fibre washers
supplied to prevent damaging the
enamel around the screw fixings.
Special precautionary measures for the
stainless steel parts
(failing to follow these instructions will inva-
lidate the warranty)
When cleaning stainless steel or chromed
parts, it is best to avoid aggressive, abra-
sive or metal cleaners. Use non-aggressive
cleaners and give them time to act. Always
use always a soft sponge or cloth. Rinse
thoroughly and dry well before you store
the appliance.
To prevent the formation of rust on stain-
less steel components, avoid any contact
with chlorine, salt or iron. The environ-
ment in which your appliance is used can
adversely affect its lifetime. Less suitable
locations include the coast, near railway
lines and the vicinity of a swimming pool.
