Detailed Installation For novice or first-time installers, these steps provide the most thorough and accurate instructions. Use of the Provided Scribe A small metal scribe is provided to assist in marking an accurate hole size in a ceiling tile. Use as follows: 1.
  • Page 16 The Accessory Kit containing the RJ-45 to RJ- 45 10 foot (2.5 m) cable and RJ-45 Termination Box can be used in this installation for the 4 alarms or relay. Since there is no access to above ceiling space and the supplied cable is limited to 10 feet (2.5 m), the Termination Box must be mounted in an area with access.
  • Page 17 6. With the Camera Drive hanging from the Enclosure, terminate all the cables as follows: a) Remove Terminal Blocks TB1 and/or TB3. Since the control signals exist in both TB3 and J3, do not remove TB3 if J3 will be used for control signal wiring. b) Strip approximately 1 inch (25 mm) of insulation off all wires to be terminated in Terminal Blocks.
  • Page 18 1. Set switch 1 on DIP Switch 2 (S2) to the appropriate video mode (PAL or NTSC). 2. Set switch 2 on DIP Switch 2 (S2) to the ON position (Vicoax mode). 3. Set switch 3 on DIP Switch 2 (S2) to either position as it does not affect Vicoax protocol operation.
  • Page 19 From Above the Ceiling (access to the space above) The ceiling hole is marked with the scribe and cut. The Enclosure is then lifted up through ceiling hole and the Flipper Screws are turned and tightened against the ceiling. The Enclosure’s Top Cover is removed and the Surveyor1000 is wired and configured from above the ceiling.
  • Page 20 NOTE: Connectors that do not fit through the Strain Relief Fitting must be cut off and re-terminated after passing the cable through. It is recommended to pass any RJ-45 Connectors through the fitting first. BNC type connectors do not fit through the fitting and must be terminated later. 4.
  • Page 21 NOTE: Failure to loop the cables can prevent later removal of the Camera Drive from the Enclosure. Figure 9 Close-Up View - In-Ceiling Configuration with Cables 9. Configure the Surveyor1000 communication and address DIP Switches as follows: a) If RS-422 Mode will be used: 1.
