Cooling Module Replacement Procedure

If a cooling module fails, it must be replaced as soon as possible. The
cooling modules are secured to the PSU canister with retention latch
mechanism. To replace a cooling module, follow the steps below:
WARNING!

The fan replacement process should be completed within five
(5) minutes. If the process takes too long, the accumulated
heat can damage the subsystem.

Keep a failed module in its bay until a replacement unit is in
hand.

Replacing a Failed Hard Drive

5.7.1

Hard Drive Maintenance Overview

˙ Hot-swappable
hot-swappable. A disk drive failure can be corrected online.
˙ LCD Panel: If the failed hard drive is behind either the left- or
right-side forearm handle, unfold the handles to access the drive
trays.
Chapter 5: System Maintenance
Squeeze the retention latches towards the center.

Gently remove the cooling module by pulling the
handle at the bottom.
Install the replacement module by aligning it with the
module bay and gently pushing it in. Push the cooling
module until it reaches the end of the module bay. Use
slightly more force when feeling the contact resistance
to engage the back-end connectors. The retention
latches should then hold the module in place.
