2. Loosen the hose clamps from the upper radiator
hose and remove the upper radiator hose from the
water temperature regulator housing (1).
3. Remove the setscrews (2) that hold water
temperature regulator housing (1) in position on
the cylinder head. Remove the water temperature
regulator housing (1). Remove the O-ring from the
water temperature regulator housing (1). Discard
the O-ring.

4. Install the 27610226 Thermostat Tool (5) into the
water temperature regulator housing (1). Press on
the tool (5) in order to squeeze the retainers (4).
Rotate the tool (5) in order to release the water
temperature regulator (3) from the tabs (6) of the
water temperature regulator housing (1). Remove
the tool (5) from the water temperature regulator
housing (1). Remove the water temperature
regulator (3) from the water temperature regulator
housing (1).
5. Refer to the Systems Operation/Testing and
Adjusting Manual, "Water Temperature Regulator
- Test" for the correct procedure on testing the
water temperature regulator. If necessary, replace

the water temperature regulator (3).
