PMD Selection

PMD, or Paper Motion Detection, may be enabled or disabled. If PMD is
enabled and a paper jam occurs, an audible alarm sounds (if the alarm is also
enabled), ''PAPER JAM" appears on the message display, and the printer
stops printing. Normally, this should be enabled; only disable PMD if special
paper requires it.

Once PMD is disabled, paper motion is not monitored. If a paper jam
occurs, the printer ignores the condition and continues to print, possibly
causing severe damage to the printer.
Nach dem Ausschalten des PMD wird der Papiervorschub nicht mehr
überwacht. Wenn ein Papierstau auftritt, ignoriert der Drucker die

Paperout Distance

The distance from the page perforation at which a paper out fault message is
triggered. (The distance is measured using printed dots as the units.) This
setting prevents printing on the platen when the printer runs out of paper. The
adjustment is made at the factory or by trained field service technicians, and
the settings differ for every printer.
