Zoom types and use

The zoom ratio changes when the picture size is changed.

Optical Zoom

Recording mode:
You can zoom in without degrading the picture quality.
Maximum magnification:
This function is not available in the following case:
• When recording with [Macro Zoom]

Extended optical zoom

Recording mode:
This function works when picture sizes with [
(→139). Extended optical zoom allows you to zoom in using a higher zoom ratio than
Optical Zoom, without degrading the picture quality. The maximum zoom ratio varies
depending on the picture size.
Maximum magnification:
This function is not available in the following cases:
• [Toy Effect], [Toy Pop] (Creative Control Mode)
• [Handheld Night Shot] (Scene Guide Mode)
• When recording 4K photos
• When [Burst Rate] is set to [SH]
• When [HDR] is set to [ON]
When [Multi Exp.] is set
