3. Remove connecting rod/piston assembly from crank-
shaft; re-attach caps to respective rod as each is re-
moved. CAPS MUST BE INSTALLED IN SAME DI-
RECTION ON SAME ROD, or mating surface will not
seat properly.
4. Remove main bearing sealing rings.
5. Scribe (with awl) identification number (cylinder 1, 2,
and 3) on inside of piston and connecting rod in order
to reassemble piston to same connecting rod.

6. Remove piston rings. Always install new piston rings.

Safety glasses should be worn when removing or in-
stalling locking rings.
