Accessing Local Administrative Procedures

During Telephone Startup:
For 4600 Series IP Telephones with a display, as of Release 2.9 you can invoke the manual
addressing procedure (ADDR) during initialization whenever this message displays:
* to program
or at any other time the initialization process can support a processing interrupt. However,
PROCSTAT must be zero and PROCPSWD null to invoke local administrative procedure
access.

The "* to program" message is supported when the messages "Address

conflict," "Subnet conflict," "Bad router?" and "Bad FileSv
address" display. Allowing local administrative procedure access in response to
these messages prevents situations in which input is required but not allowed.

1. During startup, invoke the manual addressing procedure by pressing * when the prompt *
to program displays.
During Normal Telephone Operation (all 4600 IP Telephones except the 4601):
1. Invoke all local procedures by pressing the Hold or Mute button, up to 7 numeric dial pad
buttons that signify the desired procedure, and the # button. The 4630/4630SW IP
Telephones and the 4690 IP Conference Telephone do not have a dedicated Hold button.
On these phones, you must use the Mute button to access these options.
A 6-second timeout is in effect between button presses after pressing the Hold button. If
you do not press a valid button within 6 seconds of pressing the previous button, the
collected digits are discarded. In this case, no administrative option is invoked.
During Normal Telephone Operation (4601 IP Telephone only):
1. Invoke all local procedures by pressing the Hold button, up to 7 numeric dial pad buttons
that signify the desired procedure, and the # button.
