4.1 Logical Installation Methods

There are several methods by which the logical configuration process can be performed.
In all cases, each newly installed KX-TDA0480 must first be initialised with its new IP
addressing through a direct RS-232C link to the unit. Once a unit has been initialised , it is
possible to perform additional configuration tasks using one of the following methods.
• Use the KX-TDA0480 Maintenance Console Software to configure and upload
configuration files. This can be done locally or remotely.
• Configure OFDD.VHO and DNS.DAT files off-line and use an FTP link to upload the
configuration files to a unit.
• Configure a unit directly over a serial connection, line-by-line, using the terminal
command line interface and on-line commands.
In this section, all configuration tasks will be performed using the Maintenance Console
Software. Alternative methods for creating and uploading configuration files are described in
Appendix A7 of this document.
