subcutaneous - Subcutaneous means beneath
the skin. The infusion set needle is placed
subcutaneously.
type 1 diabetes - Type 1 diabetes results from
destruction of the beta cells in the pancreas.
People with type 1 diabetes mellitus must use
insulin to regulate their BG levels.
type 2 diabetes - Type 2 diabetes usually occurs
in people 40 years or older. People with type 2
diabetes have a progressive loss of beta cells over
time. They can sometimes regulate their BG levels
by following an individual meal plan, exercising
and taking antidiabetic pills. They frequently
require insulin for optimal BG control.
