PRIMEQUEST 1000 Series General Description
CHAPTER 9 Server Maintenance
9.2

Notes on Maintenance

This section provides system information management and other notes to observe during maintenance.
9.2.1

System information storage

System information, such as firmware setting information and device identification information are stored by using
the following methods.
- Device identification information is stored in EEPROM mounted on the DVDB. The information is saved
by the MMB firmware as required.
- For a backup of device identification information, the same information is saved in non-volatile memory on
the MMB. If the MMB is duplicated, the same information should be stored on both MMBs.
In a configuration with two MMBs as described above, the system information is stored at three locations: DVDB,
MMB#0, and MMB#1. In a configuration with one MMB, the system information is stored at two locations: DVDB
and MMB. If a failure occurs in any of the components in these configurations, the other component(s) can take
over the information from the failed component.
Also, if a DVDB failure occurs, the MMB firmware uses the system information copied on the MMB to continue
operations.
The MMB is equipped with functions to back up and restore the UEFI configuration information for each partition
and the MMB configuration information.
For details on the backup/restore functions for the UEFI configuration information and MMB configuration
information, see Chapter 1 MMB Web-UI (Web User Interface) Operations in the PRIMEQUEST 1000 Series Tool
Reference (C122-E110EN).
9.2.2

Logs collected by the MMB

In the PRIMEQUEST 1000 series, the MMB Web-UI can collect the events that have occurred in the system.
The system event log can store up to 32,000 events. When the system event log reaches the maximum allowable
number of system event log entries, the oldest event log entry will be deleted to log the latest event that occurred.
