PRIMEQUEST 1000 Series General Description
CHAPTER 7 Applicable Components for Hot Maintenance
7.1
Overview of Hot Maintenance
Hot maintenance is maintenance carried out, without stopping the partition that is running, on components whose
status has changed from running to stopped during system operation because of a failure. Components for which
maintenance is completed can be reincorporated into the running system.
The term "hot maintenance" does not apply only to replacing, without stopping the partition, a component whose
status has changed from running to stopped because of a failure. This term also includes the work of intentionally
removing components from operation in the system and adding components for expansion purposes.
As a general rule, a field engineer performs hot maintenance.
For details on the components to which hot maintenance can be applied and the redundant configurations, see
Chapter 3 Component Configuration and Replacement (Addition and Removal) in the PRIMEQUEST 1000 Series
Administration Manual (C122-E108EN).
