PRIMEQUEST 1000 Series General Description
CHAPTER 1 Product Overview
1.5.4

Fujitsu middleware products

A high-reliability and high-availability system can be constructed by linking the PRIMEQUEST 1000 series server
with the following middleware products that use Fujitsu's high-availability and high-performance technologies and
accumulated know-how:
- Interstage
Application server, Web service, forms, JAVA development environment, and business intelligence
- Symfoware
Database, RDB, cluster, mission critical, information system, and security
- Systemwalker
Business service management, operation service management, life-cycle management, security management,
resource management, job management, resource control, and network management
Fujitsu middleware can run on a guest operating system within the range in which the virtualization software
environment supports functions compatible with the physical hardware environment. Depending on the type of
middleware or the operation mode, Fujitsu middleware may not be guaranteed to run.
Support of Fujitsu middleware that runs on the guest operating system is based on a SupportDesk agreement.

Clustering

Red Hat Enterprise Linux supports clustering with PRIMECLUSTER (Fujitsu middleware).
Windows Server 2003 supports clustering with Microsoft Cluster Service (operating system standard function),
and Windows Server 2008/Windows Server 2012 supports clustering with Failover Cluster (operating system
standard function).
Clustering can increase the availability of the entire system.
Clustering produces high availability in such a way that even if a fault occurs in the active partition or cabinet, a
standby partition or cabinet can take over job operations.
Through automatic detection of faults in important system resources ranging from hardware and middleware to
applications, clustering enables the system to continue operating securely. Clustering also enables autonomous
control such as failover.
The service uptime is greatly improved because periodic maintenance or system reconfiguration (during a scheduled
downtime) can be performed without affecting the resources in use.
