Fuel System/Engine Management
Manifold Absolute Pressure (Map) Sensor
Fault Code Possible cause Action
P01O? MAP sensor circuit short circuit to View & note "freeze frame" data if
ground available.
View & note "sensor" data
Ensure sensor connector is secure.
Disconnect ECM and proceed to
pinpoint test1:
P0108 MAP sensor circuit, short circuit to Disconnect
MAP sensor and
supply or open circuit proceed to test 4
P1105 MAP sensor pipe fault Check connection/condition of pipe
from MAP sensor to throttle body
Pinpoint Tests

1 Check cable and terminal integrity: OK Disconnect MAP sensor and proceed to
test 2
- ECM pin A03 Fauity Rectify fault, proceed to test 5
- ECM pin AD?
- ECM pin AD1
2 Check cable for short circuit: OK Proceed to test 3
- ECM pin AD3 to ECM AD? Short circuit Locate and rectify wiring fault, proceed to
test 5
3 Check cable for continuity: OK Renew MAP sensor and proceed to test 5
- ECM pin AD3 to sensor pin 3 Open circuit Locate and rectify wiring fault, proceed to
- ECM pin AD? to sensor pin 2
test 5
- ECM pin AD1 to sensor pin 1
4 Check cable for short circuit:
OK Renew MAP sensor and proceed to test 5
- ECM pin AD3 to ECM pin AD1
Short circuit Locate and rectify wiring fauit, proceed to
test 5
5 Reconnect harness, clear fault code and OK Action complete, quit test
run engine
Fault still present
