3.1 Introduction

This chapter provides information, instructions to get you started using the
Series Fishfinder displays. It will help you to become familiar with the
hsb

display and the functions of the controls before you start using the unit. More
detailed information on operating the Fishfinder display is provided in
Chapter 4. Chartplotter operating details are given in Chapter 5 and
Chapter 6.

Conventions Used

Throughout this handbook, the dedicated (labelled) keys are shown in bold
capitals; for example, MENU. The soft key functions, menu names and
options are shown in normal capitals; for example, SCREEN.

of numbered steps, are indicated by a

Simulator

The display unit includes a simulator function, that allows you to practice
operating your Fishfinder or Chartplotter (Raychart models only) without data
from the transducer or GPS system. You will need to use the set up options to
switch the display to simulator mode, as described in Section 3.2.
You need to connect the display to a 12V or 24V DC power supply, connecting
the red wire from the power lead to positive (+) and the black wire to negative
(-). See Chapter 2 for full details.
The following section, Section 3.2, includes instructions to view simulated
fishfinder and chart images.
