Footswitch Operation

When the GNX4 is in Recorder Mode, FOOTSWITCH 1 and 5 control drum machine operations.
Drums/MP3 Stop/Play Footswitch - Starts and stops playback of drum patterns or
AMP CHANNEL
user MIDI files and MP3s in the drum machine file list. Pressing and holding
Footswitches 1 and 2 simultaneously will enable or disable the Drums/MP3 Sync
button in the Recorder Panel.
Drum Tempo Footswitch - Tapping this footswitch while the drum machine is on
TAP TEMPO
sets the playback tempo. It must be tapped at least 2 times within 3 seconds to set a
tempo. When a new song is selected from the Recorder Panel, tapping this button
will set the song tempo (which sets the tempo for any drum pattern or MIDI file if
selected) as well. Once a track is recorded in a song, the tempo of a song cannot be
changed by tapping this footswitch until the song has been deleted. You can still tap the
tempo when using the drum machine by itself but not with a previously recorded song.
The Drum Tempo Footswitch also works with MIDI files, however it does not function
when playing MP3s. The Tempo can range from 40 to 240 beats per minute.

GNX4 MP3 Demo (Internal)

The GNX4 comes with an internal 30 second MP3 demo that permanently resides in GNX4 memory
(not on a Compact Flash card). To start the demo, remove the Compact Flash card (if one is installed in
your GNX4). Press the PLAY button located on the GNX4's Recorder Panel and the demo will start
playing. At the end of the song it will automatically loop and playback until you press the Recorder Panel
STOP button. All other Recorder Panel buttons and GNX4 footswitches are effectively disabled when
the MP3 demo is playing.
Drum Machine/MP3 Player
Pattern/File Footswitches - From any of the GNX4's Footswitch
Modes, you can press and hold the UP/DOWN footswitches
simultaneously to enable them to select any factory drum patterns or any
user MIDI files and MP3s that reside on an optional compact flash card. To
access these patterns and files using the footswitches, do the following:
1. Press and hold the UP/DOWN Footswitches until
in the display. The currently selected pattern or file will then appear in
the display. The UP/DOWN Footswitches will now flash indicating they
are available to select any of the GNX4's drum patterns, user MIDI files,
or MP3s.
2. Press either the UP or DOWN Footswitch to navigate through the
available patterns and files or press and hold down either footswitch to
scroll through the patterns. You can have the drum machine playing if you
want to hear the files as they are selected.
3. If neither footswitch is pressed within five seconds, the UP/DOWN
Footswitches will stop flashing and return to their normal function
depending on which mode is currently selected.
