Compact Flash File Functions

Compact Flash Storage/File Transfer

Since the GNX4 is equipped with both a compact flash (CF) d USB, it can act as a card reader for
transferring any files that may reside on a card to and from any USB equipped computer. To enable the card
reader function, follow these steps:
1. Place a CF card in the GNX4's memory card slot.
2. Connect your computer via USB to the GNX4 (you must install the drivers from the X-Edit
Editor/Librarian and USB Drivers CD prior to connecting the GNX4 to your computer).
ATTENTION: Do not remove your CF card during file transfer or you may lose files.
The CF STORAGE button in the Recorder panel will light indicating the CF card is being recognized by the
computer. When the CF STORAGE button is lit, the GNX4's onboard recorder functions are disabled and
the recorder display will read
button to disable the card reader function. The recorder display will return to its normal song/time status
and you may resume recording onto the CF card. To copy files back and forth between the GNX4 and your
computer, follow these steps:
Windows
®
1. Connect the GNX4 to your computer via the included USB cable.
2. Press the CF STORAGE button (if it is not already enabled) to enable the card reader function. This
disables using the GNX4's onboard recorder functions.
3. Double-click the My Computer icon on your computer's desktop. A new drive icon named GNX4 will
appear in this window.
4. Double-click the GNX4 icon and the next window that appears will show all the contents on the
Compact Flash card installed in your GNX4 including the GNX4 root directory folder.
5. Double-click the GNX4 folder to access the subdirectories. You can now drag song folders as well as
MIDI files, MP3s, and card preset files to and from their appropriate folders on the card and your PC.
6.When finished, close the GNX4 window.
7. Press the CF STORAGE button to disengage it. The audio drivers for the GNX4 will now reinitialize
and it can be used for USB audio streaming once again.
NOTE: If using Pro Tracks Plus Plus
recommended you save your work and exit the program to maximize USB
bandwith for faster file transfer.
Mac
®
Users
1. Connect the GNX4 to your computer via the included USB cable.
2.Turn on the GNX4. Wait for the display to read the current preset.
3. Insert your Compact Flash card in the GNX4's memory card slot if you have not already done so.
4. Press the CF STORAGE button (if it is not already enabled) to enable the card reader function. This
disables use of the GNX4's onboard recorder functions and a new drive should appear on your
computer's desktop.
5. Double click the new drive to open it in a finder window. If you have this feature disabled, open the
finder and select the new drive from the drive list in the left pane. The contents of the Compact Flash
card will now be displayed in the window.
6. Double click the GNX4 folder to access the subdirectories. You can now drag your song folders, MIDI
files, MP3s, and card preset files to and from their appropriate folders on the card and your computer.
7.When finished, eject the compact flash drive by selecting File>Eject from the menu bar.
8. Press the CF STORAGE button to disengage it.
The audio drivers for the GNX4 will now reinitialize and allow the Compact Flash card to
be used for USB audio streaming.
