* Note: If you misconfigure the PPP serial console port, you can
regain CLI access to correct the configuration
parameters. For more information, refer to the
"Configuring the Serial Console Port as a PPP Console
Using the CLI" section later in this chapter.
Safety Tip: To successfully dial-in with PPP to the switch, you must
also configure an IP address and interface for the PPP
Serial Interface (Serial-Console). Refer to "Managing
Configuration Files", later in this chapter for more
information.
6. Click APPLY to save your changes, or CANCEL to clear your
selection.
* Note: If you click Apply, the changes are saved in the
Running config only. The Startup config has not
changed. Therefore, these and other changes
will be lost if your switch goes down or if you
power it off.
To save these changes, you must copy the
Running config as the Startup configuration.
Refer to the "Copying Configuration Files"
section in Chapter 2, Initialize and Setup of the
P550/P880/P882 Switch.
To configure the console serial port as a TTY Console using the CLI
after you install a mode, enter the following command in Configure
mode:
>(configure)# set console type {tty|ppp}
