Always secure the vehicle against rolling

* NOTE Damage due to the vehicle lowering
Vehicles with AIRMATIC or E-ACTIVE BODY
CONTROL: The vehicle can lower because of
temperature differences or longer non-opera-
tional times. This can cause damage to parts
of the body.
When stopping the vehicle and when
#
driving off, make sure that there are no
obstacles such as curbs under or in the
immediate vicinity of the body. Bring the vehicle to a standstill by depressing
#
the brake pedal.
On gradients, turn the front wheels so that the
#
vehicle will roll towards the kerb if it starts
moving.
Apply the electric parking brake.

While the vehicle is stationary, engage trans-
#
mission position j with the brake pedal
depressed ( page 303).

Switch off the vehicle by pressing button 1.

Release the service brake slowly.
#
Get out of the vehicle and lock it.

When you park the vehicle, you will still be
able to operate the side windows and the pan-
oramic sliding sunroof for approximately four
minutes if the driver's door is closed.
Automatic vehicle shut-off during locking
Your vehicle is equipped with automatic engine
shut-off.
When you leave the vehicle ready to drive, the
vehicle will be turned off when locked under the
following conditions:
The ignition is switched on or the engine is

running.
Transmission position j is engaged.

The driver's door is closed.

In addition, one of the following conditions

must be fulfilled:
