1. Blank Exposure
In the non-image
area
on the drum
between successive sheets of copy paper,
the grid bias of the primary
corona
is
reduced to prevent adhesion of toner. For
these areas, there is no blank exposure for
removal of the surface charges.
2. Ozone Filter
A catalytic ozone filter in the exhaust fan
prevents ozone (generated
by the coronas)
from escaping to the atmosphere
by con-
verting the ozone to oxygen.
