Remote control
The remote control can be used to conveniently operate the
stereo system from a distance. Some functions are only oper-
able with the remote control.

Operation
Point the remote control at the tuner's REMOTE SENSOR win-
dow and press the desired operation button. If the remote con-
trol will only operate from a short distance or narrow angle, this
indicates that the batteries are weak and need to be replaced.
Operating the remote contro! near fluorescent lights may cause
malfunction.
How to load the batteries
Slide the battery compartment cover in the direction of the
arrow and remove it (Fig. 1).
Load the batteries according to the polarity guides on the
remote control unit.
3 Replace the battery compartment cover.
Cautionary notes
On the remote control
@ The remote control cannot be used for recording or playback
functions that require the combined pressing of two tape
transportation buttons (intro scan or auto play for example).
Please use the cassette deck's tape transportation buttons
for the operation of such functions.
@ Avoid dropping the remote control or getting it wet.
® Avoid exposing the remote control to direct sunlight or
strong light as this may cause malfunction.
@ Keep the remote control away from appliances that gener-
ate electrical noise (TV sets, micro-wave ovens, etc..)
@ When replacing the batteries, clean all the remote control
and battery terminals with a dry cloth.
On the batteries
@ When you do not plan to use the remote control for a long
period of time, remove the batteries.
@ Read the cautions printed on the batteries before inserting
them.
@ When replacing the batteries, replace them all at the same
time. Do not mix old batteries with new ones.
Intelligent operation
When the power is off, pressing the remote control's TAPE,
TUNER, or CD button will turn the power on and automati-
cally set the amplifier for input of the source selected (the
TAPE, TUNER or CD input source indicator will light).
Playback of the selected source or reception of a station
will start automaticaily.
When the TAPE button is pressed:
If a cassette is loaded in the deck, playback wil! begin auto-
matically.
If a cassette tape is not loaded, "PLEASE SET TAPE" will
appear on the tuner's frequency/message display.
When the TUNER button is pressed:
The station last tuned before the power was turned off will
be received.
When the CD button is pressed:
If a compact disc is loaded, playback will begin.
If a compact disc is not loaded, the disc drawer will open
automatically and "PLEASE SET DISC" will appear on the
tuner's frequency/message display. "ERROR" will appear
on the CD player's FL display.
