Notes for intro scan and IPSS:
® To engage intro scan on the reverse side of the cassette
tape, usé the <J and <4 buttons.
@ Inorder for IPSS and intro scan to work properly, there must
be atleast 4 seconds of blank space between each recorded
section.
@ ThelPSS function may notwork properly if you press the D>
or "4 button too close to the start or end of a selection.
@ Live recordings may contain applause between selections
which is too loud to be detected as blank space. in this case
the IPSS and intro scan operation may not operate properly.
Auto play: automatic rewind and play-
back
The auto play function can be used to rewind the cassette tape
to the beginning and start playback again automatically.
The remote control cannot be used for auto play operation.
@ Press the >> button and < button simultaneously.
The C> indicator will flash while the auto play function is en-
gaged. After the tape has been rewound to the beginning,
the cassette deck will begin playback automatically.
Note:
@ Toengage auto play on the reverse side of the cassette tape,
use the <J and >
buttons.

Recording
Before proceeding:
@ Make sure that the amplifier's power is on.
@ Make sure that the cassette deck's REC/PB MODE switch is
set to the STD position (HX-M830W model only).
@ Prepare the source that you wish to record (load a compact
disc, tune in the desired station etc.)
@ Make sure that the cassette tape's recording defeat tabs are
intact and that the cassette tape length is sufficient for your
recording needs.
Load a cassette tape in the tape Il deck (or tape | deck
on the HX-M830W model).
Select the recording
source
with the amplifier's
INPUT SELECTOR < / > buttons.
Set the operation mode for tape | or Il deck operation
with the OPERATION TAPE I/II button.
4 Set the DOLBY NR switch to the desired position.
Recording with DOLBY C NR: Set to C.
Recording with DOLBY B NR: Set to B.
Recording without DOLBY NR: Set to OFF.
5 Press the REC PAUSE button.
The REC indicator will light and the [> or <1 indicator will
flash to indicate that the recording standby mode is en-
gaged.
Press the [> or <] button (depending on which mode
indicator is lit) to start recording.
7 Start playback of the source.
8 Press the J button to stop recording.
To stop recording temporarily:
Press the REC PAUSE button.
Press the [> or <J button to resume recording.
Note:
@ Pressing the <Ibutton will start recording on the reverse side
of the cassette tape.
@ When the > indicator is lit, recording can be carried out on
the tape side that is visible. When the <] mode indicator is lit,
recording can be carried out on the opposite side of the cas-
sette tape.
® Meta! position cassette tapes should not be used for recor-
ding on the HX-M630W model cassette deck.

Continuous
recording
(HX-M830W
model only)
The continuous recording feature can be used to start recor-
ding on a cassette tape loaded in the tape | deck and continue
onto acassette tape loaded in the tape II deck. This function can
be conveniently used to record a long programme.
@ Set the REC/PB MODE button to the CONT position and
start recording.
Recording wil! take place on the A and B sides of the cas-
sette tape in the tape | deck and then continue to the AandB
sides of the cassette tape in the tape I! deck. Recording will
stop automatically when recording on both sides of the cas-
sette tape in the tape Il deck has finished.
