Cassette tape playback
Before proceeding
Load a cassette tape (exposed tape side down) into
the tape I-or Il deck.
Set the DOLBY NR switch according to how the tape
was recorded:
Tapes recorded with DOLBY C NR: Set to C
Tapes recorded with DOLBY B NR: Set to B
Tapes recorded without DOLBY NR: Set to OFF
Set the operation mode for tape | or Il deck operation
with the OPERATION TAPE I/Ili button.
The selected deck's operation indicator will light.
4 Press the [> or <1 button to start playback.
6 Press the (J button to stop playback.
To fast forward the tape
@ Press the >> button.
To rewind the tape
W@ Press the << button.
Note:
® Pressing the PP or <4 button during playback will engage
the IPSS mode.
@ Pressing the <J button will start playback of the reverse side
of the cassette tape.
@ Playback direction is indicated by the > and <I mode indica-
tors.
To change the tape operation
mode
light.
Note:
@ Pressing the OPERATION TAPE I/II button to change
tape operation is not necessary when the remote con-
trol is being used. Simply press the tape operation but-
tons of the deck that you wish to use.
Continuous playback
On the HX-M830W model:
1 Load a cassette tape in each of the tape | and II decks.
2 Set the REC/PB MODE switch to the CONT position.
4 Press the > button to start playback.
After playback of both sides of the cassette tape in the tape
| deck has finished, playback of the cassette tape in the
tape 11 deck will start automatically and both sides will be
played back. Continuous playback will continue until the
stop button is pressed.
Note:
@ When the REC/PB MODE switch is set to the CONT position
and only one cassette tape is loaded, the AandB sides of the
cassette tape will be continuously played back.
On the HX-M630W model:
1 Load acassette tape in each of the tape | and Ii decks.
2 Set the operation mode for tape | deck operation with
the OPERATION TAPE 1/II button.
Press the >> button to start playback.
After playback of one side of the cassette tape in the tape |
deck has finished, playback of the cassette tape in the tape
Il deck will begin. Both sides of the tape II cassette tape will
be played back.
Note:
@ The HX-M630W model does not include an auto reverse
function in the tape | deck. To playback both sides of a cas-
sette tape, the tape must be turned over manually.
IPSS: Instant Programme Search Sys-
tem
The IPSS function can be used to search for and begin playback
from any desired selection on a cassette tape. Up to 30 selec-
tions, in either direction from the current point of playback can
be searched for.
@ During playback press the >> or <4button the number
of selections ahead or before the current point of play-
back that you wish to begin playback from.
The cassette deck will wind the tape to the chosen selection
and begin playback.
The > indicator will flash while the selection is being sear-
ched for. Once found, playback of the chosen selection will
begin automatically.
Intro scan
The Intro scan function can be used to scan through the selec-
tions on a cassette tape. When intro scan is operating, the first
10 seconds of each selection will be played back. Playback can
be started once the selection you wish to hear is found. The
remote control cannot be used for intro scan operation.
1 Press the [> button and >> button simultaneously.
The cassette deck will go into the intro scan mode and the
> indicator will flash.
Press the > button to start playback of the desired se-
lection.
