The definitions below describe the controls and functions
of the control and operation panel (Figure 5).
1. ECU Controller with Gauge Unit Assembly — This
assembly houses the various engine monitoring
gauges. These gauges indicate: oil pressure, water
temperature, charging voltmeter, fuel level, and engine
speed (tachometer).
A. Oil Pressure Gauge — During normal operation
this gauge should read approximately 50 psi
(345 kPa). When starting the generator the oil
pressure may read a little higher, but after the
engine warms up the oil pressure should return
to the correct pressure range.
B. Water Temperature Gauge — During normal
operation this gauge should indicate approximately
180°F (82°C).
C. Charging Voltmeter Gauge — Indicates battery
voltage. During normal operation this gauge should
indicate more than 14 VDC.
D. Fuel Gauge — Indicates the fuel level in the fuel
tank.
E. Tachometer — Indicates engine speed in RPM.
During normal 60-hertz operation, this gauge
should indicate 1,000 rpm when the Engine Speed
switch is in the Low position and 1,800 rpm when
the Engine Speed switch is in the High position.

F. Warning Lamps
• Low Oil Pressure LED — Will light when the
engine oil pressure drops to 14.2 psi. This
condition will cause the engine to shut down
immediately.
• High Temperature LED — Will light when
the coolant temperature has reached 212°F
(100°C). This condition will cause the engine to
shut down immediately.
• Over Crank LED — Will light when the engine
has attempted to start 3 times and failed.
The interval between the 3 start cycles is
approximately 10 seconds.
• Over Speed LED — Will light when the engine
is running at an unsafe speed. This condition
will cause the engine to shut down immediately.
• Low Fuel LED — Will begin flashing when the
fuel level falls below the pre-alarm level. Will
light and remain illuminated when low fuel level
engine shutdown occurs.
• Engine Started LED — Will light when the engine
has started and is operating normally.
