ENGINE OIL CHECK
1. To check the engine oil level, place the generator on
secure, level ground with the engine stopped.
2. Remove the engine oil dipstick from its holder
(Figure 27) and wipe it clean.

3. Reinsert the dipstick, then remove the dipstick from
its holder. Check the oil level shown on the dipstick
(Figure 28).

4. Verify that the engine oil level is maintained between
the H and L markings on the dipstick as shown in
Figure 28A.
5. If the engine oil level is low (Figure 28C), remove
the cap from the oil filler port (Figure 29) and fill to a
safe operating level (max) as indicated by the dipstick
(Figure 28A). Fill with the recommended oil type as
listed in Table 11. Maximum oil capacity is 2.8 gallons
(10.5 liters).

When adding engine oil DO NOT overfill (Figure 28B).

6. Allow enough time for any added oil to make its way
to the oil pan before rechecking.
7. When checking the engine oil level, be sure to check
if the oil is clean. If the oil is not clean, drain the oil as
described in the Maintenance section of this manual.
