Corrective Measure
WHAT TO DO IF YOU SMELL GAS
Do not try to light any appliance. Do not touch
any electrical switch; do not use any phone in your
building. Leave the building immediately and call
your gas supplier from a neighbor's phone or a cell
phone well away from the building. Follow the gas
supplier's instructions. If you cannot reach your gas
supplier, call the fire department.
Turn shutoff valve to 'open' position
Turn fireplace 'off' and then back 'on'
Wait for pilot flame to strengthen
Check pressures
Clean pilot
Check ground connections
Vent restricter not installed
Replace pilot
Clean flame sensor and pilot igniter
