Installing or replacing option cards

To install a new LAN, WAN, or serial option card:

Use the Web graphical user interface (GUI) or the command line interface
(CLI) to shut down the gateway.
Web GUI: Choose Admin > Shutdown. Select the option to power off the
gateway after shutdown.
CLI: Use the

Wait for the system to shut down.
Turn off the VPN Router 1100 power.
The power switch and power outlet are on the rear of the VPN Router 1100.
Disconnect the power cord from the power outlet.
Disconnect the cord from the VPN Router 1100.
Warning: Risk of electric shock
Turn off the VPN Router 1100 and unplug it before you attempt to
remove or install an option card.
Remove the cables attached to the ports of the VPN Router 1100.
If there are option cards currently installed, unscrew the two screws on each
bracket.
Caution: Risk of equipment damage
Unscrew the option card brackets before you remove the cover from the
VPN Router 1100 or you can damage the option cards.
