Subject: Updated Dosing Instructions: Bio-Detect Test Strips

Alexeter has become aware of an issue, which requires a change to our instruction manual,
product inserts and training procedures. Alexeter is updating the dosing instructions for the Bio-
Detect tests to be sure that the correct sample volume is delivered to each test.
Summary
We have found that there can be variance in the volume of each drop being dispensed from the
disposable pipette which is included with each Bio-Detect Test. Insufficient volume can cause the
test strip to run incorrectly, generally resulting in an invalid result due to streaking.
Updated Dosing Instructions
Alexeter is instructing users to completely fill the sample port of the test strip with the liquid
sample. This will generally take 5 - 7 drops of liquid when dispensed from the disposable
dropper, 4- 5 drops when dispensing from an Alexeter Collection Swab. In every case, fill the
sample port completely when dosing the test strip.
Recommendations
The Guardian and Defender User manuals, as well as our Product Inserts, posted on our website
reflect this change, A revised Product Insert is also attached to this Technical Bulletin.
