Discharge the capacitor with a 12 V test lamp, as shown in
the figure.
Info
As the capacitor charge decreases, the test lamp
becomes dimmer.

The bulb lights up for: 0.5 ... 2.0 s
The capacitor is OK.
»
The bulb lights up for: < 0.5 s
Change the capacitor.
»
The bulb lights up for: > 2.0 s
Change the capacitor.

Install the capacitor.
Preparatory work
-
Press and hold the kill switch � while the engine is idling until
the engine stops.
-
Remove the air filter box cover.
-
Remove the seat. (ra!l p. 99)
-
Disconnect the negative cable of the 12 V battery.
Main work

Pull starter relay from the holder.
-
Remove the cable tie.

Unplug connector
-
Pull back the cover.

Disconnect cable from the starter relay.

Disconnect cable from the starter relay.
-
Connect the starter relay to a 12 V power supply as per the
figure.
-
Measure the resistance between the specified points.
I Resistance of open circuit
If the value displayed does not meet specifications:
-
Change the starter relay.
