The Display Does Not Work
1. If nothing is displayed on the screen, but the computer starts and the keyboard, disk
drives, and other peripheral devices seem to operate properly:
Check that the display is plugged in and switched on.
Check that the brightness and contrast controls are properly set.
Check that the display video cable is correctly connected.
If you find that the display is not connected properly, switch the computer off before
reconnecting the display. Connecting the display without doing this may result in the
display showing only black and white.
Turn off the display, and unplug it from the power outlet. Examine the video cable
pins to see if they are bent. If they are, carefully straighten them.
Check that an accessory board does not use the same I/O address as the integrated
video interface (03B0h to 03DFh). Refer to the documentation supplied with the
accessory for more information.
2. If the display image does not align with the screen (usually when you change
resolutions), use the display's controls to center the image. Refer to the display manual.
3 If the display works correctly during the power-on-system-hardware-test and initialization
routine, but goes blank as soon as starting windows:
Check if you have 1 MB or 2 MB of video memory detected during the power-on-
system-hardware-test (see "Checking the Installation"). If only 1 MB is detected and
you have installed the video memory upgrade, check that the memory chips are
installed correctly and firmly (see "Video Memory"). To recover the Windows screen,
see "If Your Display is Blurred or Unreadable."
