Cache Memory

Your PC is supplied with 8 KB or 16 KB of level-one cache memory (integrated in the
processor), depending on the model. For increased performance you can install a memory
module of 256 KB (order D2465A).
CAUTION
Static electricity can damage electronic components. Turn all equipment off.
Don't let your clothes touch the accessory.
To equalize the static electricity, rest the accessory bag on top of the power
supply unit while you are removing the accessory from the bag. Handle the
accessory as little as possible and with care.
Installing the Cache Memory Module
1. Disconnect the power supply cable.
2. Remove the computer's cover and power supply unit (see "Removing and Replacing the
Cover" and "Removing and Replacing the Power Supply Unit").
3. Remove the heatsink of the processor for better access to the cache module socket
(see diagram under "Installing an Upgrade Processor"). Do not remove the processor.
4. Align the cache memory module directly over the socket (make sure that the cutout in
the module is aligned with the bar in the socket). Hold it upright with both hands, and
firmly push it straight down into position.
5. Replace the heatsink on the processor.
6. Install any other accessories; see "Checking the Installation" to complete the installation.
