DIMMs
IMPORTANT: Registered 100-MHz ECC SDRAM DIMMs must be used. Before installing
additional DIMMs, read the section, "Important Guidelines for DIMM Installation."
The Compaq Professional Workstation SP700 supports Registered 100-MHz ECC SDRAM dual
inline memory modules (DIMMs). Additional DIMMs (32-, 64-, 128-, 256-MB, or
512-MB) are available to upgrade the memory. Alternating the installation of memory between
the two groups of DIMMS optimizes system performance. The workstation has eight DIMM
sockets located on the system board that support up to a maximum of 4 GB.
The following illustration identifies the physical location of all DIMM sockets. Compaq
recommends that DIMMs be installed alternatively between the two groups of DIMM sockets.
For example, install the first DIMM in DIMM socket 1, the second in DIMM socket 5, the third
in DIMM socket 2, and so on.
