This chapter discusses how to set up the C Series Controller after powering it on. For
basic information on the management of the system, see the SRC PE Getting Started

After powering on the system, there are six main steps required to get it ready to
work with:
Connect a management console to the system, configure it, and log in.
1.
Configure the Juniper Networks Database.
2.
Configure hostname and domain information.
3.
Configure the system for remote access.
4.
Configure the system to accept SSH and Telnet connections.
5.
Add an Admin user account.
6.
Before you power up the system, you must set up a management console. (See
"Connecting to a Console Terminal" on page 16.)
You can monitor and manage the system through either of these methods:
Console terminal Connect a console (PC, Macintosh, or UNIX workstation)
directly to the system's RS-232 serial port.
