Amplifier Analog Monitors
1. Reflected RF – This is an indication of the RF power being reflected back into the
HPA. Usually a measure of the VSWR matches between the amplifier and the
load.
2. TWT Temp – This is the temperature on the collector assembly of the TWT (the
hottest portion of the tube).
3. Helix Current – This is a measure of the focus of the TWT. This will never be zero
and most TWT's have a maximum of 15mA. Some operators use this as measure
of the life of the TWT. Xicom suggests monitoring this current on the long term
trend log and if questions arise; noting that information before calling customer
service.
4. Helix Voltage – This is the high voltage level present on the TWT. There are no
operator controls available.
5. Heater Voltage – This will typically be 6.3v (except when in Heater Standby
Mode). See more on heater standby mode in the initial setup and operation
section of this chapter.
6. Cathode Current – This is the cathode current of the TWT under operation.
7. Battery Voltage – This is the voltage of the main battery for backing up the
volatile memory. Note: This battery is design for 10 year life. In event the
battery becomes discharged a warning will be displayed on the amplifier menu.
There is a large capacitor in the design to back-up data for approximately 12
hours such that battery service may be performed.
Note: Firmware Revision .30 and later:
The bottom three analog indicators may be toggled (by touching on the displayed value) to indicated the
desired measurement.
High Voltage / RF Inhibit Status
1. High Voltage State – This is an indication of the state of the high voltage applied
to the TWT.
2. RF Inhibit State – This is an indication of the RF inhibit state of the amplifier. The
RF may be inhibited from a variety of sources, the source of which will be
displayed in the RF inhibit status box. See more on RF Inhibit mode in the initial
setup and operation section of this chapter.

Two additional analogs voltages/currents may be displayed.
a. HV disabled – Indicates the high voltage has not been enabled
b. HV pending - indicates the high voltage has been selected on but is not
applied to the TWT. Common causes are still in FTD or in fault mode.
c. HV On – Indicates high voltage has been applied to the TWT and RF is
ready to be applied to the Amplifier.
